Job description
A lean, growing environmental and industrial services company is hiring a Project Manager to lead its team at a major refinery in Whiting, Indiana. The company is a contractor on site, not the plant operator, so the scope is focused: the team runs leak detection and repair (LDAR), emissions monitoring and repair work for the client.
The site has outgrown its current leadership. The top need is people leadership: the crew has strong personalities, and the job is to manage them well while keeping production up.
What you'll do
- Run day-to-day site operations and project execution for the client account
- Lead, set expectations for and develop a hands-on field crew, de-escalate and make quick, sound calls
- Hit weekly production targets for components tested and monitored
- Own staffing, safety, performance and team development
- Serve as the client's primary point of contact on communication, expectations and service quality
- Bring structure, accountability and consistency to the operation
- Split your time between the field and the office
- Learn the company's technical programs, regulatory requirements and LDAR processes (trained in-house)
Compensation & benefits
- Starting around $150,000, based on experience
- 401(k) with a 4% match, fully vested from day one
- Health, dental and vision, HSA with match, FSA and PTO
- Tuition reimbursement, plus referral and business development bonuses
- Room to grow into regional operations leadership as the business expands
Location
On site at the client's refinery in Whiting, IN.
Requirements
What you bring
- Proven leadership of hands-on field teams: judgment, communication and accountability
- A background in a heavy industrial or operational setting: construction management or superintendent work, industrial field operations, manufacturing or plant operations, utilities, engineering services, or similar
- Experience running a team against production metrics or KPIs
- Comfortable managing a client relationship alongside a crew
- A safety-first mindset in a highly technical setting
- Honest and self-aware: you can describe where you or your team struggled and exactly how you fixed it
Nice to have
- Environmental services or LDAR experience
- A degree or formal training in management, business administration or organizational leadership
